Meet the Women's Health Certified Clinical Research Coordinators

Kathy is a research nurse practitioner and Director of Healing Partners. Prior to joining Women’s Health at Stanford in 2002, she worked as a research nurse in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, as nurse manager in the OB/GYN Clinic and as the first nurse coordinator of the Stanford In Vitro Fertilization Program.

In 2005, Kathy founded Healing Partners, a community-service program that pairs women diagnosed with breast cancer with Healing Touch volunteers who provide free, weekly sessions for three to six months. Healing Touch is a gentle form of energy balancing work that promotes deep relaxation and can help manage some of the side effects of cancer treatment.

Kathy is the principal investigator of two randomized, controlled trials of Healing Touch, one for women receiving chemotherapy for breast cancer and one for women undergoing in vitro fertilization at Stanford.

She received her medical training at Quinnipiac College, Goddard College and California Family Health Council. Kathy is a certified Healing Touch practitioner, a certified sex educator, a certified clinical research coordinator, and a teacher of self-defense at Impact Bay Area.

Colleen is the Program Manager for the Cooperative Ovarian Cancer Group for Immunotherapy (COGI). The gynecologic oncology protocols in her portfolio include Phase I, II and III clinical trials investigating treatments for newly diagnosed and recurrent ovarian cancer, as well as evaluations of novel biomarkers for ovarian cancer.

Tasha, originally from the East Coast, relocated to the Bay Area in 2004. She received her BA from Ashland University in Ohio and her MA from Columbia University. Before joining Women’s Health at Stanford as a Clinical Research Coordinator, Tasha worked as a Research Associate in the Department of Psychiatry at Stanford on a federally-funded study looking at Acupuncture and Massage for Treatment of Depression during Pregnancy. At Women’s Health, Tasha coordinates research studies for the faculty in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. In the fall of 2007, Tasha took on additional responsibilities for the Institute of Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, managing the human embryonic stem cell protocols and The RENEW Biobank – a repository for collecting donated reproductive materials for stem cell and human development studies at Stanford. Tasha enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.

 

Elizabeth (Betsy) Kogut, RN

Betsy has worked as research nurse for the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine since December of 2005.  She has enjoyed a long career in Obstetrics, working in Labor and Delivery, Post Partum/Newborn Nursery and High Risk Antepartum.  Betsy’s interest in research began when she worked in the area of antepartum fetal assessment at The New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center.  There she worked on research projects with Dr. Maurice Druzin in the area of antepartum fetal heart rate monitoring and biophysical profile.  Betsy moved here from New York in 1991 and managed the Perinatal Diagnostic Center and the Obstetric Clinic at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital until accepting her research position.  Outside interest include hiking and camping and simply enjoying the beauty of nature.         

Kelsey Lynd, MPH

Kelsey Lynd was born and rose playing in the mountains of Colorado. She received her BA from the University of Mary Washington in Virginia and her MPH from Tulane University. After her studies she spent five years in Madagascar working in the field of family planning. She moved to the Bay Area and started working for Stanford’s Family Planning Services and Research Section in the spring of 2008.

Other interests in no particular order include; skiing, hiking, triathlons, yoga, chocolate, enjoying the beauty of the earth, purple, tai chi, sexual education, chai tea, roses, international family planning, love and kindness, all animals (especially whales but not snakes), chatting with friends and family, astrology, and being healthy in mind, body and spirit.

Angie joined the Women’s Health Division in April 2009 after working as a Research Coordinator in the Department of Urology. She is the primary research coordinator for a collaborative study identifying early detection biomarkers for ovarian cancer.

Originally from North Carolina, Angie graduated from Brown University with a B.S. in Neuroscience.  After a couple seasons researching high-altitude hypoxia on Mt Everest, Angie moved to California and studied Cognition, Brain, and Behavior at UC-Berkeley.  After earning a master's degree, she began working as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Stanford.

Angie enjoys trail running, tennis, yoga, reading, playing the piano, and spending time with friends and family.
