Kathy is a research nurse practitioner and Director of Healing Partners. Prior to joining Women’s Health at Stanford in 2002, she worked as a research nurse in the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, as nurse manager in the OB/GYN Clinic and as the first nurse coordinator of the Stanford In Vitro Fertilization Program.
In 2005, Kathy founded Healing Partners, a community-service program that pairs women diagnosed with breast cancer with Healing Touch volunteers who provide free, weekly sessions for three to six months. Healing Touch is a gentle form of energy balancing work that promotes deep relaxation and can help manage some of the side effects of cancer treatment.
Kathy is the principal investigator of two randomized, controlled trials of Healing Touch, one for women receiving chemotherapy for breast cancer and one for women undergoing in vitro fertilization at Stanford.
She received her medical training at Quinnipiac College, Goddard College and California Family Health Council. Kathy is a certified Healing Touch practitioner, a certified sex educator, a certified clinical research coordinator, and a teacher of self-defense at Impact Bay Area.
